The service
Drive File Renamer ("the app") is a Google Workspace/Drive add-on that renames files you explicitly select, according to rules you configure (find/replace, case transforms, metadata insertion, prefixes/suffixes, sequential numbering). It is provided by codebyjosephdaniel, an independent developer.
Plans
- Free plan: up to 50 files per rename run, unlimited runs, full access to all rename rule types and rename history/undo.
- Paid plan(s): remove the per-run file cap. Billed via Stripe as either a recurring subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase, depending on the option chosen at checkout. Pricing is shown at the point of purchase.
Your responsibility
Bulk rename operations affect real files in your Google Drive. While the app provides a preview step before any change is applied, and a rename-history undo feature for the most recent 20 batches, you are responsible for reviewing the preview before applying a rename and for understanding that:
- Undo is available only for batches still present in your rename history (oldest batches are dropped after 20).
- If a file is deleted, moved out of your access, or renamed again by something else after a batch runs, undo for that file may fail.
- The app does not create backups of file contents — only a record of the name change.
Billing
Paid plans are processed by Stripe. Subscription cancellations and refund requests should go through codebyjosephdaniel@gmail.com or directly via the Stripe customer portal link provided at checkout, subject to a refund within 14 days of purchase.
Availability
The app runs on Google Apps Script infrastructure and is subject to Google Drive API rate limits, which can affect very large batches (thousands of files). No uptime guarantee is made for the free plan; contact codebyjosephdaniel@gmail.com for paid-plan support expectations.
